Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT for Business)
IBAT, the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool, has established itself as the go-to biodiversity screening tool for a range of financial institutions, including the International Finance Corporation, The World Bank, and a number of Equator Principles Financial Institutions and OECD Export Credit Agencies, allowing rapid review against their respective environmental and social standards and safeguards. IBAT provides a preliminary risk screening on biodiversity. It integrates information on globally recognised biodiversity, drawing upon the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, Key Biodiversity Areas (priority sites for conservation) and The World Database on Protected Areas (covering nationally, regionally and internationally recognised sites, including IUCN management categories I-VI, Ramsar Wetlands of International Importance and World Heritage sites). Integrated Valuation of Environmental Services and Tradeoffs (InVEST)
InVEST is a suite of software models used to map and value the goods and services from nature that sustain and fulfill human life. If properly managed, ecosystems yield a flow of services that are vital to humanity, including the production of goods (e.g., food), life-support processes (e.g., water purification), and life-fulfilling conditions (e.g., beauty, recreation opportunities), and the conservation of options (e.g., genetic diversity for future use). Despite its importance, this natural capital is poorly understood, scarcely monitored, and, in many cases, undergoing rapid degradation and depletion. InVEST enables decision makers to assess quantified tradeoffs associated with alternative management choices and to identify areas where investment in natural capital can enhance human development and conservation. |

Natural Capital Project |
"Integrated Valuation of Environmental Services and Tradeoffs (InVEST)","InVEST is a suite of software models used to map and value the goods and services from nature that sustain and fulfill human life. InVEST enables decision makers to assess quantified tradeoffs associated with alternative management choices and to identify areas where investment in natural capital can enhance human development and conservation.","15. Progress out of poverty Index (PPI)
The Progress out of Poverty Index® (PPI®) is a poverty measurement tool for organizations and businesses with a mission to serve the poor. The PPI is statistically-sound, yet simple to use: the answers to 10 questions about a household’s characteristics and asset ownership are scored to compute the likelihood that the household is living below the poverty line – or above by only a narrow margin. With the PPI, organizations can identify the clients, customers, or employees who are most likely to be poor or vulnerable to poverty, integrating objective poverty data into their assessments and strategic decision-making. |
